China vs USA: On Satellite-Destroying Weapons Issue

Everyone is concerned about China's destruction of one of its satellites last week. But what was the message China was conveying to the US? Ultimately, It looks like it could be a "shot across the bow" regarding America's continued position on Taiwan.

Besides those issues, China's decision is going to have major repercussions for the Taiwanese space program.
By successfully reproducing the anti-satellite technology developed by the US and the Soviet Union in the 1980s, the Chinese military has caused Europe, the US and Japan to question the nature of its space development program."
